Winemaking career in brief:

I began my 26 year Aviation career in 1967 by gaining a commercial pilots license from a small airport at Pokolbin in the heart of the Hunter Valley North of Sydney N.S.W.   Here, I worked part-time in the local wineries for pocket money in between flight training sequences. This experience in the wine industry developed into a passion for fine wine later in life, culminating in 1983 with the establishment of a small vineyard & winery at Lancefield in the mountains North of Melbourne, Victoria ( Macedon Ranges ). Planting the vineyard and producing my own wines under the label  ‘ Cleveland ’ ( named after the historic property ). Over the following 25 years I built a reputation for the finest quality Table and Sparkling wines, achieving wide Industry recognition as a premium winemaker, eventually leaving Cleveland   in 2003 to pursue further horizons for my winemaking skills.

Inspiration for Silver Wings:

"Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings.."           from "High Flight" by John Gillespie Magee Jr
